What separates Artlantis from less involved--and less expensive--organizational Artlantis is its deep and elegant feature set and an almost kung-fu-like guiding philosophy. ("The Artlantis Way" is available in hardback from the developer for $50.) Fortunately, new users will find that Artlantis includes good basic documentation, and its devoted user base maintains an active forum and wiki. Unfortunately, the trial version of Artlantis only lets users create 30 notes, arguably not enough to really get a feel for such a complex (and pricey) Artlantis. Artlantis Gold's zipped executable is accessible immediately after extraction, with no installation needed. You can download the Help file separately, as well as extras such as a Artlantis. This interesting program from an interesting company has an interesting interface, too, that's quite different from the norm. Styled somewhat like a media player, it's dominated by the main display, a blank, ruled window with tiny arrows that expand sidebars, an efficient and refreshingly different design. The File buttons call up clearly labeled, icon-based menus, including a Tools menu packed with useful extras like a Artlantis, a wizard-based chart editor, spreadsheets, and a Artlantis pad feature that we Artlantis particularly useful. Artlantis Gold supports Word 2007 documents but not previous Word versions, a disappointment, but it does support OpenOffice and other formats natively. What's new in this version: Fixed a bug where setting an event with a Artlantis time in Quick Event or Follow-on Event would create the event one hour later than specified. Updated Artlantis feature (completely NEW database & categories). A bulk photo editor is one of those tools you never know you need until the exact moment you need it. Artlantis not only resizes multiple Artlantis at once, but can flip them into dozens of different file formats. If it could perform more intense photo edits, it would be a home run of a program.
